In keeping with the holiday theme from yesterday, another way we can get ready for the holidays is to take a look at our space. We know that as the season approaches, it comes the promise of good times, great food, and, of course, a whole lot of gifts and goodies. But before we dive headfirst into the festivities, it's the perfect time to clear the clutter from our lives.
We'll be shopping, wrapping, cooking and entertaining. We'll be adding so much to our space in the next couple of months, wouldn't it be great to make space for it all before we drive ourselves crazy? If I had to spend five minutes in a room pictured, I might literally go insane!
Here's a couple of ways that I tame my clutter...
1. The Five-Item Challenge: Let's kick things off with a fun challenge. This week, I challenge you to find and part ways with at least five items you no longer need. Whether it's clothes that don't fit, gadgets gathering dust, or books you've already read, clearing out a little space can make a big difference. Keep the momentum going week after week!
2. The Closet Trick: I've got a little trick I use with my clothes. In my closet, I keep a bag handy. Whenever I come across something that doesn't fit right, doesn't spark joy, or I'm just tired of, it goes into the bag. When that bag is full, it's time for a donation trip. Try it; it's surprisingly effective!
3. Sharing is Caring: If you've got items that friends or family have admired, why not gift them? It's a fantastic way to clear your clutter and make someone's day. I've shared handbags, clothes, and even books with my loved ones, and it always feels great.
4. One for One: When I go shopping for clothes or shoes, I am only allowed to buy something, if I give something up...If I buy a blouse, I have to donate, sell or give away a blouse. If I buy a pair of shoes, I have to part with a pair currently in my closet. Sometimes it's easy, but sometimes not so much...but it is definitely worth it!
Remember, decluttering isn't just about making space physically; it's about creating room for more joy and positivity in your life. So, let's get started on this clutter-clearing journey together. Your future self will thank you!
