Not Everyone's Coming With You...

I’ve been on many personal growth journeys in my life, and one of the things I have noticed is that right before the level up, there is separation. You step away from people or they step away from you. The “fit” that was there before, doesn’t seem to be there now…it just feels “off.” Just because you are leveling up, doesn’t mean that everyone around you will. It may be friends, coworkers, siblings, even spouses. Some people you will feel ready to walk away from, and some people it will be hard…but it happens.

I recently received this analogy from someone that makes it a little easier to swallow…think of yourself as the rocket. The boosters help propel you into the stratosphere, and when they have done what they are supposed to do, they fall away. Some of the people in your life are like those boosters, helping you get to where you need to go, but not meant to stay with you. I really love that analogy.

Don’t let the fear of losing people stop you from your journey. Don’t chase those that reject you. Instead, embrace your season of growth with everything you have inside you. Don’t water yourself down to fit someone else’s expectations of you.
