You are a magnificent human being. You need to know that and walk this earth knowing it. Sometimes it's easier said than done. Some of us need a little help in the confidence department. Developing self confidence is gradual - it doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and effort - but, you CAN feel a change immediately...which will motivate you to keep going.

Here are some tips to help you build your confidence:

  1. Identify your strengths. Make a list of your strengths and accomplishments and review it often. This doesn't have to do with the workplace...do you make the best chocolate chip cookies in the neighborhood? Do people always come to you with their computer questions? What are you good at?

  2. Challenge your negative self-talk. We all do it..."why did I do that??? I'm so stupid!" Negative self talk can erode your self-confidence. What would you tell a friend if they said "I'm so stupid???" Tell yourself that instead!

  3. Take care of your physical health...exercising regularly really does boost your self-confidence. I try to work out most mornings as soon as I wake up. It gets something off my "to-do" list, which makes me feel accomplished and exercising raises my endorphins, which also adds to my confidence. Go for a walk in the sunshine...

  4. Set achievable goals...setting small, achievable goals can help build your confidence. I am a "list" person. I make a list which includes "make the bed" and I LOVE crossing things off my list. Put everything on it...when I was little (yes, I've been doing it THAT long!) my list used to include...wake up...make bed...brush teeth...wash face. Little wins become big ones.

  5. Learn a new skill. Taking on a new challenge and learning a new skill is a great way to build confidence. Find a hobby or activity you like to do and work on improving your skill. I am working on making this blog a great place to be...keep coming back - I will get better!

  6. Practice Self-Care - this should have been #1 because it is that important. It's so important to take time for yourself to relax and recharge. Do things that make you happy, and surround yourself with positive people that support and encourage you.

Building self-confidence is a journey, like happiness, and it is okay to have setbacks along the way. The most important thing is to keep working on it and believing in yourself. I believe in you!!
