I Feel the Music in Me!

One of the things that can put you in a different mindset immediately is music. Last weekend, my friend Aleece and I went to the Tarara Winery – somewhere in Virginia --- about 6,000 miles away to see an 80’s cover band – The Leg Warmers. They were beyond fantastic! In an instant I was transported back to the 80s. I worked on Wall Street at the time and we would constantly be having a party for one reason or another. We’d borrow a room at the Killarney Rose or the Blarney Stone and we’d order food and pitchers of Kamikazes and party the night away. For some reason, I was usually the one in charge of the music…cue the mixed tapes…and the music played last Saturday night put me right back there. Unfortunately, on Saturday night, the weather didn’t cooperate and the skies opened up and we got soaked. It didn’t stop us from dancing in the rain and having fun.
In my quest to “get back to happy” I decided to make a couple of playlists from my happiest years. 2004 was my most happy year – so my playlist consists of a lot of Maroon 5, Outkast, Usher…and some Sweet Home Alabama ❤️just to name a few. My second happiest year was 2020…and that one is easier to remember…Bruce Springsteen had just come out with a new album – Letter to You and that was what I was playing exclusively. Prior to that release, his Western Stars came out in 2019…so it was just Springsteen all day every day.
I think now I need to make an 80’s playlist – because the memories from my Wall Street days should NEVER be forgotten. I can’t believe we made it out alive, but glad we get to tell the story…right Lou Lou??
What song(s) immediately put a smile on your face?
