How Do You Show Up in the World?

One of the conversations I had last week that made me emotional was with a professional colleague that, despite our limited connection, offered me a glimpse into how I showed up in the world.

They told me that I have the biggest heart, and was so genuine and authentic. This resonated very deeply within me. I’ve come to realize that being genuine and authentic is not just a choice for me, it’s an inherent part of who I am. As my friend Noelle would say, it’s about being “raw and real,” acknowledging my imperfections, and unapologetically showing up as my true self.

For me, that means showing up with love. Love is the foundation on which I build all of my interactions, decisions and relationships. Not just self-love, but love for every soul that I cross paths with.

Today, even with everything going on in my life, I stand unafraid, knowing that if I were to leave this planet today, I would be at peace, for I have chosen to be real. I have chosen to embrace my flaws and vulnerabilities (there are a lot of them!) But it’s in those moments spent with these insecurities that I am able to truly connect with others. Authenticity turns out to be another superpower, and it invites others to be authentic too.

Integrity is the compass that guides me. Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, is not just a statement; it’s a way of life. My integrity is my shield, my guiding light and my solace in a world that sometimes tests our principles.

I want the very best for myself – because I deserve it, I've earned it and I am worth it, but I want it just as much for everyone. Empathy allows me to walk in the shoes of others and understand their struggles and aspirations…because I have experienced them as well. I genuinely desire to see everyone thrive and succeed, and it is this wish that drives me to always extend a helping hand whenever and wherever I can.

Authenticity makes it simple. I don’t have to pretend to be something I am not. I have accepted that I might not always have the answers, and I am okay with that. I have accepted that I might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and I am okay with that too. My life is a journey of constant growth, and I am learning to embrace the process with open arms.

So, today I ask you…how do you show up in the world? Are you unafraid to be authentic and vulnerable? Do you come at everything with love, kindness, and integrity? It’s in self-reflection that we uncover who we are, how others see us – and we can inspire them to do the same.

Let’s be flawed – I’ll show you mine if you show me yours 😉 – let’s be guided by the boundless energy of love. In the end, no one cares how much money you had (except the people in your will!) It’s how you showed up in the world that people will remember and the only thing that really matters.
