He Loves Me...He Loves Me Not?

I don't know about you, but I would be happy to never have to ask that question ever again! We should never have to "wonder" about a person's feelings for us. This isn't only about romantic partnerships either...I'm in a new city/job/environment and I am trying to make new friends...how can I make sure that I am showing myself in the best possible light - to make them like me?
Here are some general guidelines to help build healthy and fulfilling relationships and friendships.
Be Yourself! Authenticity is KEY to building a genuine connection with someone. Trying to be someone you're not may attract someone initially, but it won't lead to a long-lasting and healthy relationship or friendship. Like pretending to LOVE golf and you attract pro-golfers into your life, but you actually HATE hitting the links...you can see where this is headed, right? Always be yourself (everyone else is taken!)
Show Interest: It's not always all about you - show interest in the person you're talking to. Ask questions about their interests, hobbies - even life goals. Actively listen and show empathy.
Build Friendship: Rome wasn't built in a day. A relationship or friendship usually needs a little time to build as well. You don't need to jump in and become partners or best friends on that first day - sometimes - doing it slowly is the better approach. I'm sure we've all been in situations where we jumped all in to a friendship/relationship and a couple of week's later, we are looking for the exit sign...good friendships and relationships build over time.
Take Care of Yourself! Nothing is more attractive than a person who cares about themselves. Self-confidence is attractive as hell, and self-care is essential to building self-confidence. Eat well, exercise regularly and engage in activities that you truly enjoy.
Communication!!!! I think that communication is the most important thing in ANY relationship...work, love, family and friendships. Be open and honest about your thoughts and feelings. Listen actively, don't jump to conclusions, don't be judgmental, don't try to "fix" something if they didn't ask for help...
Attracting friends and lovers is only the first step...Building a healthy relationship that is fulfilling for everyone takes time and effort on both sides. Give your best, but make sure you are getting the same in return.
Have fun out there!
