As grown-ups, there are times when we simply need a break to reset and gather ourselves before moving forward. It's common for us to feel a bit overwhelmed at times. High-stress situations or being surrounded by individuals with vastly different values can make us feel like we're losing control. Going through a major breakup or adapting to a new life circumstance can also leave us feeling disoriented. These kinds of situations crop up in our lives, and they naturally influence our mental equilibrium. The signs of our mental state can range from forgetting where we put our car keys to questioning our perception of reality when those around us seem oblivious to what's happening right in front of them. For most of us, the key to coping during these times is to step back, take a deep breath, and regain our composure before deciding on our next steps.

Occasionally, a brief timeout does wonders. Taking a day off from whatever is causing our distress can miraculously restore our sense of sanity. Talking to a trusted friend who can offer an objective perspective can be helpful too. It allows us to identify what exactly is throwing us off balance, enabling us to initiate changes. In some situations, especially when things are particularly complicated, seeking professional assistance might be necessary. Consulting with someone who understands how the human mind responds to stress, loss, and hardship can make us feel less isolated and more supported. A therapist or spiritual counselor can teach us techniques to regain our mental stability and facilitate constructive changes. They can also reflect our inherent goodness, helping us recognize that we're fundamentally okay. I've also found that talking to a complete stranger is sometimes easier than talking to trusted friends and family.

The primary purpose of feeling overwhelmed and "crazy" is to signal that something in our lives is "off". Remind yourself that you have the capacity to create a harmonious and peaceful reality. Understand that nearly everyone has experienced moments when they've felt like they were losing their grip. You deserve a life that allows you to flourish. Take some steps today to restore balance and reduce the chaos in your life.
